About Maikel And Rami

Two young men deserve - not only - today my, our special awareness. Both have in common to speak out for justice and freedom in their countries. One of them is actually beginning his hunger strike, the other one has already stopped it.

Maikel Nabil Sanad is a symbol for all prisoners of conscience. A smart guy able to look behind the curtains of power. His only crime is simply being too smart for the SCAF, meanwhile known for its' dubious behavior against those demanding true change. By sentencing him the self-claimed transitional council was making an example of what they really are capable: to suppress all kind of intelligent resistance against a real alteration towards democracy in Egypt. The elections hold cannot hide the fact that the top of the Egyptian army has no interests handing over the power to the elected ones. Maikel is one of many who had to pay the price for it. But the silencing measures doesn't work as SCAF might have calculated. Worldwide messages of solidarity are sent to him and only a few days ago a German parlamentarian adopted him as a signal of support. The immediate release of Maikel is the crucial demand. After a four months hunger strike being actually treated in a military hospital he couldn't even celebrate this year's Coptic Christmas together with his family at home. In addition his conviction lacks any legal basis: a civilian sentenced by a military court. The global outrage over this drastic case of injustice has to become louder to urge those ones being responsible for his imprisonment finally to react by undoing the court decision.

Rami Jarrah, in the Twitter- and Bloggersphere well known as AlexanderPageSY, is a Syrian who had to flee to Egypt where he organizes different protest measures against the ferocious Assad regime. Meanwhile legendary are his livestreams he recorded during the clashes around the government in Cairo three weeks ago. Rami is actually beginning his hunger strike in front of the Arab League building calling on the AL to demand from the Syrian regime to release all detainees and allow all media in the country:

Rami is a creative head who has always smart ideas giving the Syrian revolution a push forward despite several attacks from Menhebbak (loyal Assad supporters). As many Syrians he's continuously disproving regime lies like the armed gangs' myth or the sectarianism flam. The ongoing of his latest action can be followed on his blogroll.

Truly, our world is not in a good state regarding all the injustice, the humanitarian crisis spots and the war zones where selfish interest groups are letting the civil populations pay the price, mainly their lives. But guys like Maikel and Rami are handing us the torch of hope that the human society isn't as bad as it sometimes looks. Let us be grateful spending our attention towards them.

  1. I do consider all of the ideas you have presented to your post. They're very convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are too brief for novices. May just you please lengthen them a bit from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
